The Czech Government has decided to abstain from signing the ever more disputed United Nation’s treaty on immigration.
This takes place after the Prime Minister, Andrej Babis, confronted the platform harshly, stating that it posed a threat to the security and sovereignty of the Czech Republic.
Babis considers the treaty to be dangerous in spite of it not being binding, as it «defines migration as an essential human right».
The Prime Minister has underpinned that the USA, Austria, and Hungary have also chosen to abstain from joining the treaty.
In Norway, Prime Minister Erna Solberg (H) and her Government joined the migration treaty; however, Fremskrittspartiet (the Norwegian Progressive Party) dissented.
Frp leader, Siv Jensen, stated that it is essential to the party that the immigration policy is ran from Norway.
– It is uncertain what kind of pressure we expose Norway to by joining the platform. Consequently, Fremskrittspartiet think that the Government should take its precautions and abstain from joining the platform, Jensen said.
The Czech Republic has earlier rejected a plan from the EU to allot all member states a mandatory number of asylum applicants that must be approved.
